In the context of machining, a cutting tool or cutter is typically a hardened metal tool that is used to cut, shape, and remove material from a workpiece by means of machining tools as well as abrasive tools by way of shear deformation. Wire drawing is a metalworking technique that involves pushing a wire through a single or a series of drawing dies to lower the cross-section of the wire. Wire can be made by placing a metal block after a die and pulling and pushing through a small die opening. For a tight grip, pull force, and coil forming, the machine is additionally fitted with many pulleys and wheels.

Oxy-fuel cutting is a thermal cutting method that cuts through materials with oxygen and fuel gas (such as acetylene, propane, MAPP, propylene, and natural gas). Two gases are burned at a controlled rate from each cylinder to produce a high temperature of roughly 2500ºC, which is hot enough to melt ordinary metals.
